Private stays private.
We never read your messages. Not by people, not by machines, not "anonymously". We don't learn from them, we don't mine them, we don't touch them โ and we never will. Typing "dog toys" five times in a chat will never show you a single dog toy ad. It shouldn't, anywhere.
Many people know the feeling: you talk about something in a private chat, and two days later the ads know. We think that is one of the most invasive things the internet ever normalised โ reckless, greedy and without morals. Vise doesn't need it and doesn't want it.
The promise, in five sentences
Your private messages, voice messages and chat files are never read, scanned, analysed or used to learn anything โ not even anonymised or aggregated, and not even the fact of who you talk to.
Our algorithm learns only from what you choose to tell it โ "more like this", "less like this", whom you follow and befriend, what you react to โ and you can see every bit of it on your algorithm page.
The words you write โ posts, comments, messages โ are never mined to build a profile of you.
You will never get targeted advertising. When ads come, they depend on the page you're looking at, never on who you are.
We never sell your data. This is a founding principle of Vise, not a setting we'll quietly switch off one day.

Your "more / less like this"
What you tell us about a post: its topics, its kind and its creator move up or down for you. Reposting counts as "more like this".
What you set yourself
The topics you turn up or down on your algorithm page, and how much "outside your bubble" you want.
Who you chose to be close to
Friends, people and pages you follow, and your circles โ so your people come first.
Whom you interact with in public
That you reacted to, commented on or reposted someone's posts โ counted, never read. Only whom, never what you wrote.
How much of a Short you watched
So a view counts once and Shorts you've seen move back. It's never added to your interest profile.
What you've already been shown
So your feed doesn't repeat itself.

Your messages, voice messages and chat files ยท whom you chat with ยท the text of your posts and comments (as a profile of you) ยท what you search for (we don't store searches) ยท your location (only a coarse region, if you set one) ยท your date of birth or IP address (kept encrypted and apart, never used for the feed or ads) ยท anything you do on other websites.
๐ฃ How Vise makes money โ openly
- There is no advertising in the beta. None.
- When ads come, every ad is labelled "Advertisement" and chosen by the context it appears in โ the page, the topic, at most your country or region. Never by your profile, your interests, your messages, your age group beyond protecting minors (who see no ads at all), or anything you've done.
- Even your interest profile โ the one you can see on your algorithm page โ is never used for ads. It only orders your feed.
- Half of the ad income that members' content generates goes to the members who created it (opt-in, see Earn with Vise).
- No political advertising. No micro-targeting. No data sales. No data brokers.
Your questions, straight answers
Do you read my messages โ maybe "anonymously"?
No. Not people, not software, not anonymised, not aggregated, not "just for statistics". There is no code in Vise that reads chats for anything except showing them to the people in the conversation.
If I write about something in a chat, will I see ads for it?
Never. Not two days later, not ever. Your chats don't reach the ads, the feed or anything else โ and ads on Vise aren't personalised at all.
Do you use my messages to train AI?
No. Not your messages, not your voice messages, not your chat pictures โ for no model, ours or anyone else's.
Does the algorithm know whom I chat with?
No. Not even that. The part of Vise that orders your feed has no access to messages at all โ we removed even the last tiny signal ("you have an active conversation") to keep this promise to the letter.
Do you scan messages for spam or "safety"?
No content scanning. Spam protection counts things, it doesn't read: how many new conversations someone starts per day, and how many messages a stranger may send before you accept. Strangers can't send you pictures until you accept their request.
Can people at Vise read my chats?
We don't, and nobody at Vise is allowed to โ founders included. There is no tool in Vise that shows anyone your conversations. To be completely honest about the technology: messages are stored on our servers in EU data centres, encrypted on the way and at rest, but not yet end-to-end encrypted. End-to-end encryption, so that it becomes technically impossible even for us, is on our roadmap. Until then, our promise and our code are what protect you โ and we tell you exactly how.
Is there any exception?
One, and you control it: if someone in a conversation reports a specific message (for example harassment), our moderators see that one message and its attachments โ nothing before or after it. And like every company in the EU, we must comply with a binding court or authority order; we would hand over only what such an order covers.
Do notification emails contain my messages?
No. They say "3 unread messages from Simon" โ never the text, never a preview.
Do you learn from what I post or comment?
Not to profile you. The hashtags of a public post help that post find readers, and the topics you write about are shown on your page as a summary โ but your words never build an interest profile of you. Your feed changes only through the things on the list above.
Do you track me on other websites?
No. Vise has no tracking pixels and no "like" buttons on other sites. The only exception you can choose: if you accept marketing cookies, a Google Ads tag measures whether our own campaigns outside Vise work โ never for members under 18, never personalised ads on Vise, and you can say no or withdraw any time.
What about my photos and voice messages?
Photos lose their location and camera data when you upload them. Voice messages are stored as they are โ never transcribed, never analysed. Pictures carry an invisible mark that only tells us which post they came from (chat pictures without your name), so copies can be traced back to their source.
Do you sell my data?
No. Never. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Can I see what you know about me โ and delete it?
Yes. Your algorithm page shows what the algorithm learned, your activity history shows what you did, a one-click export gives you everything we store, and deleting your account erases it all.
Will this ever change?
No. Private stays private is a founding principle of Vise, written into our vision. We would rather grow slowly on honest revenue than fast on other people's private lives.
